Mike Brooks VS Roberts

Mike BrooksVSMason "I Don't Get Sarcasm" Roberts

After a good rest from his first fight, Reverend Brooks decided that it was time again to fight. This time, it was Mason Roberts who. while not being a regular of Steve's Backyard Boxing in the past, had quite a bit of experience in boxing others in a smaller boxing ring at Northhaven. Roberts would be a more aggressive type of fighter than the evasive ones that Brooks was use to. It was interesting to see how Brooks planned on fighting Roberts.

Let the record state that the fight, before it got kicked off, was brought to you by Shawn Conn's shoes as Roberts didn't have any prior to getting into the ring.  As the fight kicked off it was clear that Roberts was definitely more aggressive, at the same time trying to stay as mobile as Brooks was in prior fights. Brooks put up a good defense but Roberts would overwhelm many times. At times Roberts was so aggressive, he'd keep attacking even though Brooks was trying to back off. After the crowd set him straight on proper fighting etiquette (through their boos), Roberts would once again bounce around and look for an opportunity to strike Brooks. Brooks didn't just stand idle though, nearing the end of the first round he stepped up the aggression and started to attack Roberts. This work well for Brooks until he made one mistake right before the end of round 1. As Brooks went in to hit Roberts in the gut, he left himself open at a low position that was perfect for Roberts to come in with a jab to Brook's chin that made quite a sound (I left audio in the clip for effect) :

After the hit, the fighter were ready to keep on going as they didn't realize someone called time as Brooks was being hit in the jaw. Once they were informed again, the first round was over.

The second round was for the most part uneventful, both fighters kept up their good defense and each time they came in contact with one another they would either dodge or block the punches. Nearing the end of the 2nd round Brooks would get a jab straight to Roberts face, but it didn't even effect him. He just kept going after Brooks, but Brooks once again (before the round was over) was able to avoid the attacks thrown at him:

The round soon ended and it appeared as if both fighters were not going to end the stalemate that both their good defense had caused.

Of course that was until the final round. Right out the gate, Brooks was going for broke. He went in fast at Roberts. The first try Brooks was able to get a good hit, but it didn't effect Roberts enough to let his guard. The second try would surprisingly end the fight quickly as Brooks rushed in Roberts came back with some punches that had enough momentum to floor Brooks. Surprised that he was now kissing the ground, Brooks tapped out and submitted to Roberts fast and furious fighting.
