Chris Johnson Vs Popp

Chris JohnsonVSLenny Popp

After pounding on his little brother, Chris Johnson thought he would take on self-proclaimed punk Lenny Popp. Though Popp had reach advantage over Chris, Popp would get more than he bargained for with newcomer Chris Johnson.

You could tell Popp was ready to go after already fighting two previous fights that day. He wasn't going to be the bitch this time, he was smash someone's face. Unfortunately for Popp, Johnson had other things in mind then getting his ass beat. He would start the fight out by trying to feel out his opponent, to see where Popp's weakness where. He opened up with a spin punch combination that Matt Sparks would later on use so much. While Johnson wasn't too successful with the attack, it did earn him a right hook straight to his face that give him a much needed boost of energy surprisingly. For after he was hit the face he was ready to take on anything Popp through at him. He came at Popp with some impressive uppercuts and jabs that would of been that much better had they actually hit Popp. It didn't matter for Johnson though, he would hold back while staying quick to his feet so that he could avoid Popp's swings and would try to come back with a punch of his own. But Popp was wise to this strategy as he did the same damn thing. It would lead to some goofy looking series of punches that would close out round one.

Surprisingly the 2nd round was no different from the first. Johnson would sit back trying to feel out Popp's reach again. This time he rushed in with a duck to catch the taller Popp off guard. It lead to Johnson having to jump back and take a hit to face. And like before, it gave him a boost of energy that to a quick move of the feet then a series of crazy punches (which unfortunately managed to pummel the air but not Popp).

Once Johnson wore himself out trying to hit Popp so frantically, Popp turned the tables and went after Johnson. He was ready for Popp thought, he kept up his blocking and dodging that avoided most of Popp's swings. Soon after the police series could be heard in the background, leading some to believe that Landlord was read to come and bust Steve's ass but it wasn't so. The 2nd round soon end after Chris missed with a swing and Popp got the back of Johnson's head. Though it was not the most impressive fights seen at SBB, it was a good first show for Chris Johnson who would go on to prove himself in later fights.
